Write for us
We welcome clear, original pitches about county landscapes, boundaries, place names, local materials and regional connections. A strong proposal starts with a question that a general reader can follow and answers why the subject matters beyond a list of facts.
What makes a good pitch
Send a short outline of the central idea, the reader takeaway and the evidence or sources that could support the piece. Tell us the likely format and scope, and flag any uncertainty or dependence on local records. We value focused explanations, comparisons and histories that avoid sweeping claims about a whole region.
Originality and clarity
Proposals should be your own work and should not rely on invented details, unsupported anecdotes or uncredited material. Explain specialised terms and keep the subject manageable. We are interested in useful distinctions and fresh questions, not a collection of generic facts.
Sending a proposal
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option to send your pitch. Include your name, a way to reply and the proposed subject in the message. A submission is a proposal, not a promise of publication; please wait for a response before sending a complete draft.
